Deposits and payments made for services with Expat  Family are non-refundable.

Should you need to reschedule your appointment or service, the balance paid will be credited and valid for use only within 6 months from the date of your original appointment or service. After this 90 day period, the credit will be null and void and you will forfeit the opportunity to redeem it.

Expat  Family Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • Deposit Refund Window
  • Deposits are refundable within 24 hours of the time of booking only.
  • After this 24-hour window, all deposits and payments are strictly non-refundable, without exception.
  • Reservation Changes
  • Guests may request to alter, switch, or change their reservation at least 21 days prior to their scheduled arrival date by submittaing written notice to info@Expat  Family.com.
  • Any request received less than 21 days prior to arrival may not be accommodated and will result in forfeiture of all deposits/payments.
  • Cancellations
  • To cancel a reservation, written notice must be sent to info@Expat  Family.com no later than 21 days before the scheduled arrival date.
  • No refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
  • Credits
  • As a courtesy, Expat  Family may issue a credit equal to the paid balance, to be applied toward future stays or services.
  • Credits must be used within 90 days of the cancellation notice date and will automatically expire thereafter.
  • Credits are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded once applied.
  • Acknowledgement
  • By submitting payment, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
  • These policies are in place to protect both Expat  Family and our guests, ensuring fairness and clarity in all transactions.

Yes, we can coordinate airport pickups, private drivers, and group shuttle service for excursions.

Guests enjoy access to shared indoor and outdoor spaces, Wi-Fi, and curated cultural experiences. Additional services—such as guided tours, airport transfers, and catering—are available upon request.

Yes, children aged 10 and older are welcome at Expat Family. For family-focused programs and events, younger children may also attend unless specified otherwise.

We can comfortably host up to 8 overnight guests (2 guests per room), with each of our 4 bedrooms featuring a private bathroom.

For group events, we never place two guests who do not know each other in the same room. Shared rooms are by the request of our guest(s).

Our Junior King Suites are flexible—each can be arranged with one king bed or converted into two individual beds for separate guests. Please note that our King Deluxe Suite and Queen Suite cannot be converted.

The closest airports to SMA are located in Leon/Guanajuato (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO). Both are international airports with regular flights into and out of the area. Travel time from both airports to medellinis about 1hr and 30mins. Round trip ground transportation is covered when flying into either of these airports when you purchase a Relocation tour.

City Airport (MEX) is also accessible however, travel time is roughly 4 hours. The costs of ground transportation to/from City airport is NOT covered in your Relocation Tour package. ​

According to the experts, you can get the best price on airfare to Central America by booking approximately 2-3 months before your travel date but no later than 30 days before your travel date.

IMPORTANT: It is mandatory that you provide us with your travel information no later than 20 days prior to your arrival. This information is required to ensure your airport shuttle service and check-in reservation. Your flight must land in before 10P on your tour start date.

Passport holders from the USA, Canada and most countries in the EU, South Africa, the UK, and many other countries are not required to obtain a visa before visiting .

Do I need travel and medical insurance?

Yes, for our relocation tours and vacation packages we require guests to provide proof of travel insurance and medical insurance prior to your arrival.

Are there any special passport requirements?

For U.S., Canada and other passport holders: Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your date of arrival. However, if you plan to stay in  for more than 3 months and then return to the United States you will need a passport that expires after your intended return date.

Vaccine requirements and recommendations vary based on a number of factors including:

  • Country of Origin
  • Full travel Itinerary
  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Lifestyle

Please consult your physician or a healthcare professional preferably six weeks before your travel date to determine which, if any, vaccinations are appropriate for you.

Do you assist with vacation planning before and after tours?

While our primary focus is on ensuring our tours and retreats run smoothly, we do offer vacation experiences and leisure travel assistance as well. Feel free to contact us for a consultation for personalized SMA itinerary planning.

Visitors from the US and Canada do not need to bring a power plug adapter as the outlets in  are identical to those in your home country.

Travelers from other countries should check this website to see if they will need an adapter. The standard voltage is 110V and the standard frequency is 60Hz.

medellin maintains a moderate temperature with a normal range of 41F - 85F. It rarely drops below 36F or reaches above 91F.

The rainy season typically comes with an overcast. The dry season is partly cloudy with warm temperatures and a regular breeze.

A large majority of businesses and restaurants take MasterCard and Visa. AMEX is not widely accepted in SMA. However,  is a cash-based society with many places only accepting cash. All relocation tour activities are covered with the purchase of your ticket, we do recommend bringing about $500 cash to use for additional leisure activities and dining.

ATM machines are readily available at banks so you can get additional cash if necessary. Note: The ATM machines distribute pesos, NOT US dollars. Using a foreign debit card, a maximum of $250 can be withdrawn from an ATM machine twice a day.  There are ATM fees per transaction when using a foreign debit card at the ATM. Check with your bank on the maximum withdrawals allowed per day.

Contact your banking institution to determine if these fees can be reimbursed, plus be sure you make them aware of your travels and use of your card so you do not receive a fraud notice, or are blocked from using your debit or credit card.

Yes! Expat  Family is available for private bookings, retreats, and special events. Whether you’re planning a wellness retreat, creative workshop, family celebration, or group getaway, our 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom guesthouse provides the perfect setting. We offer:

  • Full accommodations: Comfortable suites for up to 12 guests.
  • Support services: Assistance with catering, activities, and local partnerships to bring your vision to life.

No need to worry about hotel reservations—accommodations are included in our relocation tour experience. Full details will be provided once you are registered.

Full week tours are Saturday to Friday. Half week tours are Sunday to Thursday. Tours end on the stated checkout date. Check-out time is 11:00 AM.

If you'd like to extend your stay, you must let us know, so we can make arrangements accordingly.

IMPORTANT: If planning to stay in longer than intended you will need to ensure you do not overstay your visa. This is a government document and you could face fines if caught.
If you overstay your visa, when you arrive at the airport to leave your boarding pass may be held until you meet with immigration or pay the fine.
